ABOUT COLLEEN
MY journey to BIRTH WORK
My passion for this work comes from my own experiences as a mother. Both of my children, now 32 and 17, were born via C-section at a time when I didn’t even know what a doula was or how transformative the right support could be. Breastfeeding, too, was a struggle. I vividly remember the cracked nipples, the dread I felt before each nursing session, and the unrelenting discomfort. No one explained what was happening or offered me the help I so desperately needed it felt like pain was just a rite of passage into motherhood.
Both my babies barely breastfed past six months and while I felt relieved when the pain ended, I was also heartbroken, knowing I had been robbed of the joy and intimacy breastfeeding can bring. Those moments shaped my commitment to making this experience better for others.
At Colleen Birth and Lactation, I combine professional expertise with the heart of a mother who’s been there. I’m here to ensure that no parent feels unsupported or uninformed, whether it’s preparing for birth, navigating postpartum recovery, or addressing breastfeeding struggles. My mission is to provide the care I wish I had, empowering you to thrive in your unique journey into parenthood.
